The second year in Uni has been so hectic, I have been so shocked by how different it is compared to the first year of uni. The project has had it’s ups and downs, some parts have been very interesting, yet some parts have bored me. It is very much what you make of it, and I have struggled with that. The thing that I really want to get into the habit of is using all the techniques and skills I learnt over the years in school, college and uni and combine them altogether.
I used the batik tool in uni for the first time since I was about 12 years old, it was really refreshing to use an old technique and put a contemporary twist onto it.
I went to Llandaf Cathedral and took a few pictures of the plaques on the wall, I took a few macro images and played around with scale. This is an image of the batik sample I made, that was inspired by the cathedral war plaques.
Experimenting with personal protective equipment……..
This was originally a high viability jacket, I inked it up with some red ink and used hot wax over the top.
